Technical failures in equipment, operational accidents, and adverse weather conditions can trigger oil spill incidents with severe consequences. In this context, Porto Sudeste combines science, technology, and sustainability to prevent and mitigate the impacts of oil spills.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers powerful tools for monitoring and forecasting complex phenomena, such as the dispersion of oil stains, allowing a faster and more effective response to incidents. Sipremo O2S is a high-level technological system developed for forecasting, monitoring, and intelligent response to oil spills in ocean environments. This system combines AI models with forecasts based on physical parameters to understand and predict the behavior of oil stains under various conditions. With the implementation of Sipremo O2S, Porto Sudeste aims to improve its response capability to oil spill incidents, mitigating their negative impacts and promoting the sustainability of port operations.
The differential of the system is in its ability to merge climate information on multiple horizons with operational data, building a systemic understanding of the variables involved in oil spills events. Through artificial neural networks, models and semi-supervised learning algorithms, the system constantly learns, becoming more accurate over time. In addition, it incorporates physical dispersion models adapted to ocean environments, allowing the simulation of the oil spill and its interaction with wind, currents, temperature, salinity, meteorology among other parameters.
It is expected that the implementation of Sipremo O2S will result in a significant improvement in the ability to predict the dispersion of oil spills, allowing for more efficient and accurate monitoring. The system provides greater agility in responding to oil spill incidents, allowing for the rapid mobilization of resources and the implementation of more effective containment and cleanup actions. Sipremo O2S will provide precise and real-time information, optimizing decision-making in emergency centers and strategic planning of maritime operations. The project’s implementation will contribute to the
sustainability of port operations, reducing negative environmental impacts and promoting environmental responsibility.
