The Port Authority of Valencia, through the Valenciaport Foundation, has launched the Vocational Training Port Immersion project. This pioneering and unique initiative involves both the companies of the port cluster and public secondary schools. The main objective is to tailor the training of students in the higher degrees of International Trade and Transport and Logistics to the real needs of companies, thereby facilitating the employability of young people.
Students receive 200 hours of specialized training in logistics and ports, featuring bilingual content, based on digitalization and innovation. The methodologies, workshops, and simulations employed reinforce the experiential and international perspectives. The program also offers 400 hrs of paid internships in port community companies, followed by an employment contract. The project includes teacher training, development of innovative materials of simulated companies, immersive reality experiences, and maintains a gender balance in the courses.
Port of Valencia accounts 2.5% of GDP and 2% of employment in its territory, creating over 40,000 jobs.
This project aims to boost employability in the sector, meeting the demand for new digital, English language and port skills required to address the evolving challenges of the ports. This embodies the vision and leadership of the port’s management, as well as its commitment to sustainability.
We have also created the observatory for training and employment, linked to vocational training in the logistics-port environment to draw the map linking vocational training with each of the professions and activities that take place in our environment.
