Port of Gdańsk – Baltic Hub Container Terminal T3

Baltic Hub Container Terminal (BHCT) T3 tackles key maritime logistics challenges—rising demand, sustainable growth, and the need for smart infrastructure. The new terminal features a 717-meter deep-water quay, a 36-hectare yard equipped with electrified cranes, optimized logistics, and semi-automated systems for next-generation container handling. Once operational, it will expand annual capacity by 1.5 million TEU, bringing the total to 4.5 million TEU.

BHCT T3 reflects a commitment to environmental and social responsibility. In partnership with the general contractor, low-carbon construction techniques and robust environmental safeguards, including biodiversity protection and noise/dust mitigation, were integrated into the project. Community engagement also remains a priority, with the establishment of initiatives such as Safety Fest (promoting a safety-first culture), Busole grants (supporting youth education), and open cultural events like the Summer Cinema on Stogi Beach, to strengthen ties between the port and local residents.

Beyond ongoing CSR efforts, BHCT has introduced several innovative sustainability projects. These include: BeBot, a solar-powered beach cleaning device capable of removing small plastic waste from 9,000 m² and collecting approximately 153kg of debris in just three hours; hybrid Cars for Hospice Pomorze Dzieciom to aid medical staff while cutting emissions; and the revitalization of the Stogi district playground for a safer family space. Furthermore, water pollution is tackled with the addition of PortBins being installed in marinas and on the beach to capture floating waste. These actions, supported by a dedicated employee volunteer group, reinforce BHCT’s alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, solidifying the Port of Gdańsk’s role as a sustainability leader in the Baltic region.
