Vision 2060 is a pioneering, long term roadmap to future proof Queensland’s trade and transform the Port of Brisbane into a sustainable, innovative global hub. Led by Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) as Manager of Port of Brisbane, Australia’s third largest multi-cargo port, Vision 2060 will help guide future priorities and investment for PBPL, and the broader port community.
Developed over three years through deep research and 160+ stakeholder engagements across industry, government, customers and community, Vision 2060 demonstrates strong leadership and a shared vision for sustainable growth. The project started 2022 with Vision 2060 launched 2025. Vision 2060 is the first initiative of its kind in Australia’s ports sector, establishing a 35 year, actionable blueprint structured around three strategic horizons: seamless connectivity, clean energy, and designing for future generations. These pillars align with global sustainability priorities and the UN SDGs by enabling more efficient supply chains, advancing renewable energy integration, and strengthening resilience, workforce capability and environmental stewardship.
Vision 2060 translates strategy into action through a Board endorsed Horizon Action Plan, demonstrating governance and leadership. In its first year, PBPL has progressed measurable initiatives with partners, including supporting higher productivity freight vehicle customer innovations, commencing a digital twin R&D project, expanding large-scale solar installations (for customers and PBPL), expanding the Port of Brisbane Virtual Energy Network, and progressing environmental restoration activities. Our new five-year business strategy has Vision 2060 at its core, helping to lay the foundations now for the future ahead.
Collaboration is central to its impact. Extensive engagement is building alignment with customers, government and industry, while community initiatives, such as a new ‘Here for the future fund’ including a First Nations scholarship program, reinforce shared value and long term legacy. Vision 2060 combines innovation, measurable progress and broad stakeholder partnership to position Port of Brisbane as a global leader in sustainable port transformation.
