AD Ports Group has implemented a state-of-the-art Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS) across all AD Ports in the United Arab Emirates, including Khalifa Port, Zayed Port, Free Port, Musaffah Port, and ports in the Al Dhafra region. This project marks the latest move to deploy advanced digital solutions within the UAE in support of the nation’s efforts to develop a world-class maritime and ports sector.
The advanced and fully integrated VTMIS is a vital requirement in developing an enhanced Port Community System (PCS) and has been designed to unify maritime operations through a single operational picture, integrating advanced technologies such as RADAR, CCTV, VHF radios, meteorological sensors, Portable Pilot Units (PPU), and Automatic Identification Systems (AIS). This has significantly improved operational efficiency by providing port operators with access to real-time information resulting in seamless communication and coordination across the port network
Overall, the new system has improved maritime safety by enabling better monitoring and management of vessel traffic, and allows for more accurate detection, tracking, and identification of small and high-speed targets, reducing the risk of accidents. The integration of VDES ensures enhanced cybersecurity and data integrity, further bolstering the safety and security of port operations.
Finally, to ensure all personnel are well-equipped to manage and maintain the new system, AD ports has built a comprehensive certified training programme ensuring that the VTMIS is operated to the highest standards.
