Global Ports Hydrogen coalition
Ports are seen as potential cornerstones for the adoption of hydrogen technologies and as backbone infrastructure for hydrogen transport and trade. As coastal industrial clusters, they can help build an integrated approach towards energy transition, accelerate decarbonization whilst also fulfilling the maritime sector and ports’ plans to reduce fuel emissions. The Global Ports Hydrogen Coalition is part of the Hydrogen initiative (H2I) originating from the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) dedicated to support the scale-up of clean hydrogen in the global economy. IAPH joined the Coalition in 2021, and is collaborating with the Coalition program managers of the International Energy Agency (IEA) by integrating its database of port-related hydrogen projects into the World Ports Sustainability Program.
