SOHAR Port and Freezone has installed a special IoT-enabled Odor Monitoring and Management Network, consisting of sophisticated Electronic Nose (E-Nose) sensors strategically located across the port and industrial area activities known to generate odors.
IoT technology enables the sensors to continually detect, collect, and send odor and air quality data to a central monitoring platform, providing 24/7 monitoring of odor conditions. With the wind speed and direction, source identification can support knowing the reason and work to reduce it and minimize action or operation modes that might result in odors that can cause complaints and response actions. After training, the system can define the type and intensity of odor events.
The system with an Air Quality Monitoring Network (AQMN) improves environmental performance and boosts regulatory compliance. Moreover, advances openness with stakeholders and surrounding communities by supporting sustainable industrial operations via proactive, data-driven advance monitoring management systems.
