WPSP coordinator Patrick Verhoeven was invited to present the World Ports Sustainability Program at the first GreenPort America Congress, which was held in Baltimore on 16 and 17 May. The conference built on the successful GreenPort Congress format that runs in Europe since 2006. Whilst in the US, Patrick Verhoeven also presented the program to staff of the transportation and trade facilitation departments at the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC, emphasising in particular evolutions on data use and digitisation. During the same week, Port of Antwerp’s CSR Manager Eric De Deckere introduced WPSP at the European Environmental Ports Conference held in Antwerp. Finally, WPSP featured prominently in the programme of the 2018 IAPH World Ports Conference, which took place in Baku from 8 to 11 May. The conference program alternated plenary sessions with workshops devoted to WPSP-related themes, including LNG bunkering, port incentive schemes for green shipping and logistics, digitisation and efficient port operations as well as legal and financial enablers for future-proof infrastructure. Presentations given at the workshops can be downloaded from the conference website.
