Port of Barcelona

Since 2014 the Port of Barcelona in order to improve the city’s air quality, promotes natural gas as a cleaner alternative fuel with the objective of reducing pollutant gases and small particles in the air generated by the vessels at port. In 2020, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, five vessels, ferries and cruises, have received LNG bunkering at the Port.

From the LNG experience and knowledge, the Port of Barcelona will explore the use of zero or almost zero fuels based on hydrogen and biofuels. The objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in addition to pollutants.
