Every year on July 1, The Port of Vancouver is proud to present Canada Together. 2025 marks the 39th annual July 1st event at Canada Place, which has historically been the largest Canada Day celebration outside the nation’s capital.
In 2022 the event, formerly known as Canada Day at Canada Place, was completely re-imagined as “Canada Together,” shifting to a focus on Reconciliation. All details are planned collaboratively with representatives from the local First Nations, and the theme is “Weaving together the fabric of a nation.” Canada Together was born out of collaboration, creativity, and challenging the status quo. The theme was chosen to honour Canada’s diversity and set an intention for the day to gather, celebrate, learn, and share.
Presented by the Port of Vancouver and located on the waterfront in the heart of Vancouver’s downtown, the event welcomes over 200,000 guests and features free festivities, food trucks, family fun, cultural demonstrations and performances, a fantastic line up of musical acts, with multiple stages, exhibits, and activity indoors and outdoors. In 2024 we also introduced a Port Community Zone to highlight port stakeholders, terminals, and partners that make up Canada’s largest port.
Canada Together supports a shared vision of a sustainable and inclusive future by aligning with several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities – by centering Indigenous voices, promoting multicultural celebration, and creating inclusive spaces, and SDG 11Sustainable Cities and Communities – by activating public space in the heart of the city in a low-impact, high-benefit way. From programming to the name and theme itself, the details of the day are carefully considered to create a welcoming experience for all people who live in this country.
