Ulsan Port Authority – Port Infrastructure Innovation

To adapt to the “megaship era” and modernize 30-year-old aging berths, Ulsan Port Authority (UPA) implemented a cost-effective remodeling strategy instead of full redevelopment.

By integrating onshore performance improvements with offshore maintenance dredging, UPA ensured continuous port operations while drastically reducing costs and project duration.

A key catalyst was a stakeholder-driven Task Force of over 30 companies, achieving large-scale construction with zero operational disruption. The project successfully secured a 14.2m safe water depth and more than doubled the port’s cargo handling capacity.
