Sohar Net Zero Alliance (SNZA): Driving Collaborative Decarbonization at Sohar Port: The SNZA exemplifies Sohar Port’s commitment to translating vision into action through bold partnerships and practical solutions for a sustainable industrial future.
Launched in 2024 by Sohar Port and Freezone, the Sohar Net Zero Alliance is a pioneering platform uniting industrial and commercial stakeholders to accelerate regional decarbonization. The alliance fosters collaboration among private and public entities to adopt low-carbon technologies, share data, conduct joint R&D, and plan green infrastructure. SNZA directly supports Oman’s Net Zero 2050 vision and Sohar’s environmental goals by creating a unified climate action coalition.
The Alliance onboarded over 10 strategic partners, including Marsa LNG, who committed to a shared sustainability charter with annual emissions reporting. SNZA launched pilot projects focused on circular economy models, green fuels, and clean energy infrastructure. The initiative is formally recognized by Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals and OPAZ, aligning with national climate policies. It also strengthens Sohar’s role as a climate leadership catalyst in the Gulf region.
Measurable Impacts of the project so far include: 10+ strategic partners joined within the first year; 3 pilot projects underway under SNZA’s roadmap; Emissions baselining completed for port operations members; and the project has been recognized by media and industry as a regional decarbonization benchmark.
