On the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the opening of the new Port of Baku in Alat region, an open-door format “Port Festival 2019” event will take place on 25-26 May 2019. Port Festival 2019 will be an annual event that brings together families, kids, business people, and port representatives at the New Port of Baku in Alat and promotes community outreach and port-city dialogue. This will be a festival with carnival atmosphere with interactive games, food stalls and family entertainment both on and off the water, including boat tours, helicopter show, exhibitions, simulator experiences and more!
The main purpose of the event is to attract residents not only from Baku, but also from the neighboring regions of Alat, such as Shirvan, Salyan, Hajiqabul, Sabirabad and Neftchala and offer a broad insight on the operational capabilities of one of the largest ports in the Caspian region built in compliance with all the modern standards. Festival visitors can get a glimpse behind the scenes of the state-of-the-art Port of Baku and learn how the Port will contribute to the development of non-oil sector, as well as economy of Azerbaijan.
Participation of low-income families, kids at orphanages, as well as families of IDPs and refugees is also anticipated and regarded as an integral part of the Port of Baku’s Corporate Social Responsibility Policy. With this Festival, we aim to offer a delight for all members of the community and to celebrate the city, port and Azerbaijan’s maritime heritage. We believe that the event will have a great positive impact of the community’s attitude towards the ports and a maritime industry.
