In the academic year 2017-2018, DP World Mundra launched a Digital Education program “Kal Ki Kaksha” – a 6 year focused approach to improve the education quality for primary and middle school children through “digital inclusion”. The program targets the wider reach of digital media and enhances the learning curve for young children who can readily embrace the online content.
The program has been reaching out to 8000 students across 40 schools in 4 locations (Mundra, Gujarat, Nhava Sheva, Navi Mumbai, Chennai, Tamil Nadu & Cochin, Kerala) for 4 consecutive years. A vehicle equipped with laptops, power backup and qualified computer instructors traveled from school to school providing students with access to basic computer education. Special emphasis is given on ensuring to cover an equal number of male and female students.
An important orientation of the program has been the provision of environmental education using locale-specific examples. In 2018-19, the Kal Ki Kaksha program aimed to create opportunities for the students to develop leadership skills while addressing the critical environmental issues facing our planet. The program helped students to take ownership of sustainability in their schools and act as green ambassadors by transferring knowledge to the wider community. As most students live near the sea, they were educated on how they can contribute in various ways to protect the oceans through dedicated modules.
