Have all ships in port sound their horns in a 15-second burst at 6.30 PM every day until the COVID-19 crisis comes to an end. That is the essence of the ‘Horns of Hope’ solidarity initiative of Abu Dhabi Ports, which pays tribute to port workers, seafarers, healthcare workers, security services and all other frontline personnel fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative immediately got a strong following in ports of the Middle East and North Africa and it has now also caught on in Europe, with ports like Antwerp, Barcelona, Hamburg, and Rotterdam joining the lead. IMO Secretary General Kitack Lim already welcomed the enthusiast global following, commending Abu Dhabi Ports for the solidarity campaign to those who work in ports, shipping and other frontline services.
