In order to provide decision makers and stakeholders with a decision support tool for addressing the challenges when putting into practice the ideal of “Planning the city with the port”, the worldwide network of port cities – AIVP (Association Internationale Villes et Ports) published in 2015 its guide “Plan the city with the port: guide of good practices”. The guide contains guidelines and selected examples of good practices that provide inspiration in addressing key topics such as spatial organisation, economic development strategies, environmental challenges, project management and governance. The guidelines are the result of the intense exchange of experiences during AIVP international meetings and of the AIVP’s constant monitoring of the implementation of development projects in port cities around the world.
An updated version of the Guide with many new examples of good practices will be available through a dedicated web platform on June 2018.
