Ports all over the globe face a wide variety of sustainability challenges. However, so far few ports are teaming up with innovators to find solutions to these challenges.
To accelerate port innovation, we decided to develop a worldwide innovation platform under the umbrella of the World Ports Sustainability Program, where ports can engage in pilots and partnerships with start-ups and scale-ups.
To make this happen, we teamed up with PortXL, the world’s first port and maritime accelerator. PortXL brings a proven approach in matching ports facing a problem with innovative start-ups and scale-ups offering a solution.
In total, PortXL has 72 accelerated companies in its portfolio, with over 150 paid pilot contracts signed with corporates as a result. It also has 2000 start-ups and scale-ups in an ever-growing database. You can find out more about PortXL by watching this video.
The Port Innovation Atlas will provide solutions to the many sustainability challenges that ports are facing.
In the meantime, we are inviting IAPH member ports to put their challenges to the platform – via this form – to discover which companies are primed and ready for cooperation. The form is designed to gauge interest and does not require any concrete commitments at this stage.
At the IAPH World Ports Conference 2020 in Antwerp between 17-19 March PortXL and IAPH will be arranging face-to-face meetings between interested ports and their selected start-up and scale-up innovators.
